The flow regulating valve has a spool (3) within which there are flow passages (17) that relate to flow ports(16,7) within the valve block. The supply from a pump is fed (12) to control ports (14,10) at both ends of the spool. The two paths are differentiated by a flow restrictor. In operation the pressure difference between the ends maintain a position that gives a constant flow rate.
