In the method and apparatus for setting a radiation treatment and for correcting a dosimeter installation - error are thus, instead of an iterative generation of further segments for the correction of the dosimeter installation - errors by means of a segment optimization algorithm resulting output values (i.e, a segment set and an initial monitor unit set), and the associated with each segment number of monitor units, for the correction of the dosimeter installation - errors varied. Only in extreme cases, additional segments are added.
