False twist texturing of pairs of synthetic yarns by means of trapped twist uses a steam jet located just before the inlet peg of the twist zone

Pairs of filament yarns (1.1,1.2) are fed separately to a twist zone (8) where they are twisted about each other and heat set. They are removed separately as textured yarns, with the twist trapped in the twist zone (8) by inlet (3) and outlet (4) pegs. A steam jet (5) is located just upstream of the inlet peg (3). Optionally a second steam jet can be placed before the outlet peg (4) or the steam jets replaced by lubricant applicators.
