The test device (1) has an electronic video system with polarized character sequences and polarization spectacles (22) for the subject, with mutually perpendicular polarization axes (3,4). Horizontal line pairs are presented to the subject's eyes one line above the other, whereby the test device presents only one line for one eye and the other line for the other eye.
