The video editing device sets an editing point in a video sequence, using a vertical line sampler. This produces vertical slits (3), which can then be successively arranged as video images which represent individual frames (2). These can then be used to produce a sequence that can be browsed (4a,4b). This browser sequence is displayed using a display, and can be subsequently edited using an editing interface. An Independent claim is included for a video editing method.
