The soil crushing and mixing unit has a number of uniformly spaced, pivoted, rotary impact elements (21-23) adapted to the size of a soil treatment machine. The mixer, for a soil treatment machine, has rotary impact elements (21-23) which are arranged on a frame (2) and which crush and mix soil and soil treatment material to produce treated soil with a predetermined fine particle size. The machines are systematized into small, medium-sized and large machines and the impact elements are pivoted on support elements (33) which have roughly the same shape and structure and which are mounted at uniform spacings on the circumferences of rotary shafts (30), the number of elements being reduced in accordance with reducing size of the systemized machines. An Independent claim is also included for a mixer for a mobile soil treatment machine comprising a vehicle having a soil loading hopper at one end, an adjacent soil treatment agent loading hopper, a conveyor (3) for conveying material from the hoppers to the above mixer (1), a discharge conveyor (32) for the treated soil material, and a drive system for driving the vehicle, the conveyors and the mixer. Preferred Features: The small machine is provided with three rotary impact elements. The minimal spacing of adjacent rotary impact elements is less than 120 (especially 93-100) mm at their free ends when the elements are in the maximum extended state and is greater than 200 (especially greater than 213) mm when the elements are in the maximum pivoted state, the minimal spacing between the support elements of adjacent rotary impact elements being greater than 250 (especially greater than 270) mm.
