The procedure for cleaning the surface(8) of a printing drum or cylinder face entails drawing dirt from the surface through a revolving hollow cleaning roller(7) in a first position and blowing the dirt from the cleaning roller in a second position. An Independent claim is included for a device for cleaning the surface of a printing machine with a revolving hollow cleaning roller supplied with compressed air on the inside and which is made of air penetrable material and/or with air holes(18,19). An Independent claim is included for a printed material processing machine equipped with the proposed cleaning device.
