The main control unit (40) has a wheel rpm sensing signal counter (41), to computer programmes, which are stored in different memory sections, and uses different sections for operations. Different recorders are used and the same control operations are activated by signals from different timers, and in addition two identical computer units are provided for carrying out the computer programme. The additional monitoring unit (70) has the following:- the wheel rpm sensing signal counter, a read in entry unit, which reads the count value from the main control unit. Also a comparator (73) compares the value computed by the main control unit with the count value. The main control unit and the auxiliary monitoring unit respectively process signals of the respective wheel rpm sensors from the counter. So that the result of each operation is compared, so that if the count value does not coincide, a failure of the main control unit or the auxiliary monitoring unit is accepted.
