The method involves using a pump to feed brake fluid under pressure to at least one vehicle wheel brake, whereby the pump is driven and supplied with power by a motor connected to a controller that is connected to a revolution rate sensor. The pump motor is operated over a given time interval; the actual pump speed is determined; compared with a defined threshold value; and the power supply to the motor is interrupted if the detected pump speed exceeds the threshold value. An Independent claim is also included for a system for controlling at least one vehicle brake.
