Dispersion unit forming lime suspensions, especially for waste water treatment, induces upward swirl followed by rotating falling film, operating in situ to minimize plant complexity and suspension handling difficulties. In the casing (1) a dispersion cone (3) forms an outer, annular region. The upper edge of the cone lies below the top of the casing. A tangential water feed pipe (5) enters low in the casing. In operation, water led into the annular region is set in rotation, spiraling upward in the intermediate space. It flows over the upper edge of the funnel, entering the interior of the funnel tangentially, there forming a rotating liquid film.
