Camera with manual film transport switches off encoder after certain time if transport drive is stationary

The camera includes an encoder which rotates while the film is being transported and outputs a signal. A film transport length detector counts the signals from the encoder. A controller switches off the encoder after a certain time if the transport drive is stationary during the film transport, and switches on the encoder if subsequent rotation of the transport drive is detected, so that the film transport length detector can continue to count the signals.
