Treating cardiac infarction-induced damage to myocardium, using moxonidine to restore or rehabilitate myocardial state after infarction

4-Chloro-5-((4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-amino)-2-methylpyrimidine (I) (i.e. moxonidine) or its acid addition salt is used for the preparation of a medicament for treating cardiac infarction-induced damage to the myocardium. An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for use as above, by converting (I) or its acid addition salt, together with conventional auxiliaries, into a suitable dosage form.
