The electric grill has a carrier grid for the grilled food in a housing (1), a removable electrical heater (3), a switch box (4), an overheating protection switch in the heater circuit and a mains isolation switch. The overheating protection switch has a rigid and a pivotable contact element, the latter associated with a rod movable between two positions which is in the contact element release position when the grill is in use and which automatically separates the contact elements when the heater and switch box are removed.
