Fiber-reinforced silicon carbide composite production, by infiltrating molten silicon into a moulded, carbonized and reaction sintered fiber prepreg containing silicon powder and resin, is new. A fiber-reinforced silicon carbide composite production process comprises: (a) moulding a fiber prepreg containing silicon powder and resin to form a green body; (b) carbonizing at 900-1350 [deg]C in an inter atmosphere; (c) reaction sintering at = 1300 [deg]C under vacuum or inert atmosphere to form open pores; and (d) infiltrating molten silicon into the open pores at 1300-1800 [deg]C under vacuum or inert atmosphere.
