Tensile member for structure stressing comprizes ties commonly encased by individual casing sectors linked via telescopic tubes at pre-perforated or otherwise weakened tear points.
Tensile member for structure stressing comprizes ties commonly encased by individual casing sectors linked via telescopic tubes at pre-perforated or otherwise weakened tear points.
Until completely pre-stressed, the common casing (4) consists of loosely connected individual sectors and is furnished with ideal tear or crack points where the casing rubs and applies tensile load, the wall thickness of the casing being weakened at the tear points e.g. notched or grooved or again perforated at these points. The single casing sectors can also be linked at joins (8,9) covered over by telescoping tubes or by tubes formed into bellows at the joins. The casing is first applied evenly and continuously onto the ties (2) and only thereafter parted at tear points to give a series of single sectors. Otherwise the casing is divided into single sectors before fitting. The casing can also be extruded onto the ties.
