The battery unit has a large number of cells (1) connected in series or in parallel, temp. sensors (5) for detecting the cell temp. arranged next to cells, whereby not all cells have adjacent sensors so that the total number of sensors is smaller than the number of cells. All cells with adjacent sensors and all cells without adjacent sensors are connected together.
