A wavelength converter, comprising a lithium tetraborate single crystal cut such that its c-axis is approximately orthogonal to the light output direction, is new. A wavelength converter consists of a lithium tetraborate single crystal cut to provide a 90 ! 2 deg angle between the light output direction and the c-axis. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) laser equipment including the above wavelength converter; and (ii) laser wavelength conversion methods using the above wavelength converter.
