The system includes a remote control for transmitting a signal having a data header, a data code section following the data header, and a power-on code section which precedes the data header. An electrical apparatus is controlled by the remote control and includes a receiver and a controller having a stop mode and a rapid mode. The controller switches from the stop mode to the rapid mode if the power-on code section is received by the receiver. The controller switches back to the stop mode if a predetermined time has elapsed without receiving the data header, after the power-on code was received.
