In a procedure for air-conditioning a switching cubicle using an air stream directed into the cubicle interior, a heat storage unit (30) is fed by warm air from the air conditioning apparatus (20). The air stream to be conditioned is then warmed or cooled by the warm air from the store. The thermal capacity of the heat store is brought up to a pre-determined level by the air flow through it and after the conditioning apparatus is shut down, the conditioned air is passed to the cubicle. The air is dried before entering the cubicle. In the upper region of the cubicle, air is extracted and directed to the surroundings or back to the heat store.
