Chain-extended isocyanurates for use as curing agent in coating compositions

Compounds are prepared from trifunctional isocyanurates by first reacting the isocyanurate with water, monohydric alcohol, diol or diamine. This isocyanurate is subsequently reacted to form a carbamate substituted compound, having the formula: wherein   L₁, L₂, and L₃ each independently represents a divalent linking group, and   R₁ and R₂, each independently represents H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl and R₃ is the residue resulting from the reaction of isocyanate and water, monohydric alcohol, diol or diamine.;These compounds are useful as crosslinking agents for curable compositions such as coating compositions.
