The present invention relates to a process of making aconcentrate of coagulation proteins starting with wholehuman or animal plasma. This concentrate is used as abiological adhesive when extemporaneously mixed tothrombin. The concentrated proteins include mostlyfibrinogen, fibrin stabilizing factor (factor XIII) andfibronectin. The claimed process has the advantage ofbeing short of execution while providing an excellentyield of coagulable protein. No protease inhibitor hasto be added during the process. The process involvessteps of separation by "salting-out" in presence ofamino-6 hexanoic acid which prevents co-precipitation ofplasminogen with the desired coagulable proteins. Theproteins so obtained are very stable afterreconstitution in water for at least 24 hours at room orbody temperature. After mixing with thrombin andcalcium, the adhesive shows excellent strength andbiocompatibility.
