The assembly to wrap bales in plastics sheaths (5) has overlaid layers at supports (4) on swan-neck arms at the frame (1), to form a polygonal opening to take the bales. All and some of the supports (4) are moved by cylinder units (20,22,23) at the frame (1) to stretch the plastics sheath material. The frame (1), as a horizontal beam (3), carries the supports (43) fixed to the frame and two side supports (4) on side structures (7) which are linked on the frame (1), to shift the moving supports (4) to guide the plastics sheath (5) in a polygon path. The side structures (7) are formed by two beams forming a dihedral with an angle of 120 deg . One beam (10) pivots on the frame (1), and a second beam (12) has a sliding movement at an end of the first beam, with a slide (14) which can move along the length of the second beam to carry another support (41). Or the side structures (7) are of simple beams (10), linked to the lower fixed guides (43) to guide a slide (14) fitted with a support (4), moved by a horizontal cylinder unit (23), and a cylinder unit (20) is for each at the horizontal beam (3). The side structures (7) can be kept in their symmetrical position by a swingletree, in relation to the center axis of the assembly, as the horizontal beam (3) on the frame (1). It has an arm at each end, parallel to each other, with end links for the appropriate beam (10). The plastics sheath is guided round the supports (4) and their cylinder units, formed by the beams (10,12) in a swan-neck shape. Each support (4) is formed by a cylinder section, to give the dia. of the envelopment, of 150-250 mm as a plate with a rounded side. The assembly has a control for the hydraulics to each cylinder unit, delivered by an independent central source such as a tractor vehicle. The frame (1) has road wheels for towing, and spades if required. The cylinder units to move the supports (4) are on mountings which can be shifted according to the dimensions of the bales to be wrapped.
