The invention concerns a hydrocyanic acid (HCN) generator for fumigation with isolation of the dangerous chemical reagent and automatic treatment of residues. During the manufacturing process, the generator (5) is successively lined by hot casting with three layered stages (3, 2, 1) consisting of a mixture of a non-reactive retention product with, for the lower stage (3), an alkaline product in granules for automatically treating residues and, for the intermediate stage (2), a cyanide salt for producing the fumigant, said lower stages (2, 3) being topped with an upper stage (1) consisting of a pure retention product, such that the cyanide salt contained in the intermediate stage (2) is isolated by the retention product of the upper stages (1, 2) and such that at the time of use, the addition of the liquid chemical reagents (16, 9) brings about successive reactions producing the fumigant and automatically treating the residues.
