Timber processing method including visual detection of faults and imperfections adjusting saw cut lines accordingly

A piece of wood (21) which is to be sawn into planks travels past cameras (2,2') on a conveyor (1). Operators (10) in a control cabin (8) are able to see faults in the wood (21) on screens (9) and to adjust cutting lines superimposed on the wood image to best advantage. The wood then travels to a laser controlled saw (6) for cutting. An automatic procedure is available to optimize the cutting lines for various standards of quality required
