The payment card is prepaid and personalized. The nominal amount is printed on one side in multiple currencies. The other side carries a label that must be removed to reveal a code before the card can be used. A card with the label in place can be used as money. To take value from the card the protective cover for the integrated circuit is removed and the prepaid total decremented.
