P The thermostatic expansion valve is provided with a special chamber (14) essentially separated from a refrigerant passage (10, 11) to guide the refrigerant, and is connected to the refrigerant passage through an additional passage ( 15). The particular chamber has pressure related to the pressure in the refrigerant passage when operating the refrigeration cycle. To reduce the influence of the pressure in the coolant passage, a pressure transmitting member (22) transmits the pressure of the particular chamber to a valve mechanism (200a, 201) which is placed in the coolant passage to adjust the refrigerant flow in the passage. An operation control device (205, 206, 207) controls the operation of the valve mechanism in response to the refrigerant temperature. / P
