Lightning generated electromagnetic field sensor for detection and protection of electronic data processing or control systems

Includes sensors (100, 200,300), which are housed in radomes, and sensitive to lightning generated electromagnetic waves of predefined type. At least one detects a magnetic field and other detects electric field, and each generates a signal which varies as function of detected field. A module (110,210, 310) processes the signals received from the sensors and compares the signals to predefined wave presence criteria. Sensors are linked to an alarm device (400,420,500,520) which automatically triggers an electromagnetic pulse protection system.
