The first reinforcing layer (60) comprises radial metallic elements wrapped over the carcass reinforcement (1) anchoring bead (2). The second reinforcement (7) has elements slanted with respect to the radial direction and is not wrapped over the rod. It is axially outside the returned carcass reinforcement. Preferred features: The outer strand (602), at its upper end, is closer to the axis of rotation than the end of the return (10). HLE is the distance from the end to the base (D), being 0.2-0.8 times the height HRNC of the return (10). Further variants of the construction based on the foregoing principles are described.
