New device for lysis of micro-organisms in liquid samples to extract cell contents uses the mechanical action of inert balls of two sizes

A device for the lysis of microorganisms uses the mechanical action of inert balls of two sizes. The larger balls (3) are magnetic, and moved through the sample by a magnet beneath the sample container, either through a track (7) or inside a test tube. The diameter of the large balls is about 40 times that of the small, and the small are about 50 times the size of the microorganisms. An Independent claim is also included for the process (II) of lysis of cells using the above device.
