The assembly consists of a box (30), fitted under the trim layer (15) of the dashboard, and which contains the air bag (60). The trim layer of the dashboard is formed as two distinct parts (12 and 14), which are joined together in a line (16) of reduced resistance. The case is formed with a front flap (40), which is hinged to open outwards, when the bag inflates. The flap is fitted with a protuberance (44), which is fitted so that when the bag inflates the protuberance exerts a force on the trim line to rupture it and allow the bag to be deployed.
