The thermal ribbon color print techniques has an ink color ribbon (3) passing past a print head. The ribbon is made up of a number of multi-color groups (Gn) each forming a number of single color fields (Yn, Mn,Cn,Kn,On). The single color patch area (L) is made up of a number (m, at least 20) of single color patches. Printing is carried out by selecting the total field of the individual color.
