Uniform microspheres of crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol are therapeutic or prophylactic embolization agents

Microspheres of crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol having a diameter of 10-2000 mu m are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) The preparation of the microspheres; and (2) injectable suspensions of the microspheres in a suitable liquid support, especially those containing microspheres (0.5-20 %) in the form of a hydrogel.
