The reservoir (R1) is liquid-filled and positioned at the outlet producing fumes to be purified. Preferred Features: Fumes enter the basal inlet (1) and are discharged, purified, from the outlet (2) at the top of the reservoir cover. The cover includes a compartment of differing, interchangeable filters. Further reservoir connections (3, 3') allow for liquid-filling (3) and emptying (3'). The upper inlet (3) is spaced below the cover opening level, to create a space above the liquid, in which a serpentine formation traps and returns entrained liquid. This comprises perforated undulating panels (i.e. tiles) with micro-screens (4), preventing heavy metal particles from leaving, carried by the air. The cover has a compartment accommodating the filters (5), holding them with grids and retention frames. Maximal separation of diverse contaminants is assured by bag- or micro-grid filters. The inlet pipe ascends through the height of the scrubber, then returns to the base, forming a water lute, before the inlet. Air is extracted from the scrubber below the perforated panels. A pre-cooler precedes entry into the reservoir. A version with three similar reservoirs in series is described, de-odorizing, purifying and re-oxygenating or refreshing the air. The second reservoir contains deodorant additive, the third contains plant extracts i.e. essential oils. The pretreatment unit is welded to the exhaust outlet air duct of a vehicle, whilst further reservoir connections employ jubilee clips or other demountable fastenings. The size and shape of the scrubber permits suitable mounting e.g. in the boot of a motor vehicle.
