The intruder detection method involves measures pressure at a point within the protected area. This is done with reference to timing between maximum and minimum values and polarities. The recorded values are classified as a function of time. A positive peak followed by a negative peak is used to distinguish an intrusion from a false alarm. The detected pressure is analyzed to find the period between the positive and negative peaks. If this exceeds 0.4 seconds, and the voltage exceeds a set level, an alarm is set. An Independent claim is included for a detection device.
