The water temperature is measured (6) at a given instant during the day, using a sensor relaying the signal to a card in the central control unit (8). The temperature value is stored under microprocessor control in memory (10). After a defined interval, a purification system, especially a filtration system (1-3), is brought into action for a given period An Independent claim is included for the corresponding plant. This is essentially a pumping (1) and filtration unit (3), which removes water from the pool and returns it, purified, under the control regime indicated. Preferred Features: Temperature is measured e.g. every three minutes between 12.00 h and 13.00 h, taking the mean in order to determine the purification period. The microprocessor control system has an input e.g. from a potentiometer, enabling filtration duration to be varied. A sensor protects the pump from dry running, and is connected to the central processor. The filtration system is protected against freezing by a sensor (13) measuring air temperature. This causes the control system to start a pump, which agitates the water to inhibit freezing. This and other relevant satellite systems are connected to central control. One such, is an ionizer (15) sterilizing the water and linked to filtration pump operation through a low voltage supply from the central unit (8). Another controls pH in a similar manner, its sensor close to the pump return connection.
