Proportional counter detecting neutrons in a gas including boron trifluoride are mounted in a container each with an anode wire held in the gas at preset pressure
Two neutron detection elements are mounted in a container (5), each with an anode wire held in the gas (boron trifluorane) at a preset pressure. The anode wires produce impulse signals corresponding to the number of neutrons present and are connected electrically in parallel. A signal integrated from the two impulse signals is transmitted from the container through a cable. The first and second elements are filled with gas at a pressure between 13332 Pa and 73326 Pa, preferably equal to about 33330 Pa. An additional means of neutron detection of different sensitivity may be installed inside a container which also holds the rest of the apparatus.
