The supply is by injection, into each phase of the motor (M), of current wavetrains during controlled time windows. Each injection is controlled by a bi-directional controlled switch (21,22) connected in series between the AC supply (U) and the phase. The timing of the operation of the controlled switch is determined as a function of the angular position of the rotor and the set torque value.
