The food tray, having one or more compartments (3) covered by seals (4) and/or a clip-on lid (16), incorporates an electric heater in the form of a chromed copper plate (5) with high-resistance wires (6) which raises the temperature of the food for a given period, followed automatically by a stage in which the food is maintained at a set temperature. The heater is also equipped with a manual control unit (7) and a sound and/or visual alarm.
