The purifier cells are formed from thin (maximum 0.5mm thick) parallel aluminum sheets, electrically paralleled in two interleaved sets at 4mm sheet separation, one set intended for energizing at high voltage, the other earthed. Cells are placed on a shelf (2) within a front-opening-casing (1) whose base (6) slopes toward a central sump (7), forming a spillway filter. The space above and below the cells is traversed by parallel bus-pipes (4), supplied wit liquid recirculated (10) at low pressure from the sump via a mains-fed (11) pump (8), and provided with spray nozzles (5) directed towards the cells. A sump connection (9) is provided for make-up water, and a valve (10) controls the pump inlet.
