A PVC strip (1) passes via a preheater (3a) from a storage roll (1a) to a rotating drum (2), whose peripheral metal plate (2b) has regularly recurring cavities (2c), vented to the interior, constituting moulds for the cell blisters. As the strip reaches the drum, a final heater (3) completes the softening process, allowing the material to be drawn into the mould cavities, forming cells, by suction generated by a fixed internal unit (12). Drum rotation carries the strip between internal (11) and external (11a) coolers to a product filling station (4), where product items, e.g. tablets, loaded into a hopper (4a) are placed in the cells. A sensor (5) checks each cell. Closure film (9) drawn from storage (9a) is then welded on (6), cooled (7) and printed (8). Optical sensors (10) check print quality. The completed strip is then cut (14) into convenient sheets or ribbons, within which break lines for later subdivision into a single units are created (13).
