Controller has filling station (1) with gas source (G1,G2), filling head (17) and weighing device (18); gas sensor (2) linked to gas supply pipe (16) and sensor (S2') determining nature of gas; liquid gas level detector (3) detecting level of gas in bottle (B2), with conveyor (31), measuring head (32) and actuator (33) controlling relative height of measuring head with respect to bottle. Controller also has control circuit (4) receiving signals (S2,S4) from sensors (2,2') corresponding to the type of gas and signal (S3) from level detector (32).
