The facsimile identification technique has a technique (10-14,16-18) to add a digital word of identification to the facsimile page on transmission associating the identification with the page. On reception, the identification digital words are converted to digital graphics and placed in a portion of the facsimile- which can cover a large or small portion of a facsimile page.
