The projectile (1) has a flat base (3) and a conical nose-cone (2), and is thrown toward the target by exploding a small charge of explosive under the base. The projectile is accommodated, before launching, in a short mortar-type barrel. When the projectile reaches the neighborhood of the target the gasbag (7) is inflated with gas or fluid produced by a generator in the base of the projectile. The flexible bag carries a number of hard discs (14), distributed around its outer surface.
