Thermo-insulating sound-proofing material is obtained from monocotyledones (sic) especially of palmades (sic) species and used to produce insulating panels and sandwich-type structures after drying to humidity level up to 25%, preferably 18-19%. Preferred Features: Drying can be preceded or followed by soaking in insecticide and fungicide, and by immersion in bath of running water or in tank where water is periodically changed, or by saturation with vapors or pulverization in solvent, to cause elimination of at least 20% of saccharose originally present in sap. Material can be also treated, after drying, with tetrakis salts, alkali metal citrates, guanyl urea phosphate, ammonium pentaborate, halogen compounds etc., to impart improved fireproofing properties, and can also be rendered waterproof, by impregnation, after drying, with waterproofing agent of methyl siloxane oligomer type or other type, or can be rendered impermeable, after drying, by surface treatment with polyvinylchloride (PVC) copolymer and polyvinyl alcohol resins, or hardened by impregnation, after drying, with for example urea or phenol formol (sic) or diallyl phthalate or methyl methacrylate, and can be used, after drying, in sandwich-type laminated panels between two or more layers of other materials.
