The necktie, with a simplified knot, has a prefabricated knot (1) with a single horizontal slot (2) at the rear to arrest the trailing end of the flexible necktie band (3). The necktie band (3) is locked in place after it has been passed over the upper trailing edge of the knot (1), and moved through the slot (2) within the knot (1) behind the front end of the necktie band (3). At the top of the knot (1), the trailing edge is lower than the leading edge to shroud the necktie band (3) over it. The knot (1) is of a fabric or a supple leather.
