The hydraulic cylinder comprises a cylindrical body having a bottom at the front and open at the rear. A piston (21) reciprocates axially in an internal bore. A piston rod (44) has a head (42) at the front engaging the piston. The piston has a front surface delimiting a hydraulic chamber (20) and a rear surface (40) engaging the piston rod. A stop washer (54), carried by the cylinder body rear free end section (28), axially retains the piston in its pushed back position towards which it is acted upon by a spring (36).
