A simple interior wall coating imparting a colored whitewashed appearance and having excellent durability comprises micronized marble powder, plaster of Paris, white cement, vermiculite, and also binding resin and coloring oxides. The coating comprises (in %): micronized marble powder 5-10; plaster of Paris 5-60; white cement 25-30; vermiculite 1.5-2.5; Rhoximat Pav 22 (RTM: Rhone Poulenc) (binder) 2-4; and coloring oxides or natural colored ochers 1-10.
