Exercise machine for people with a lower limb disability

An exercise machine comprises a base assembly 1, a pair of tracks 2, foot supports 10 and a trolley 6 which moves along the tracks towards and away from the foot supports 10. The user can either sit or lie on the trolley 6, and it is moved by turning the crank 7, this rotational movement being translated into linear movement along the tracks 2 by means of a rack and pinion assembly 8. This movement causes the user's knees and hips to bend, thus creating muscle movement in the lower limbs while simultaneously exercising the upper body. The incline of the tracks 2 may be adjusted by engaging the sprung lever 5 with various holes on curved members 4. This incline determines the power required by the user. The foot supports 10 are adjustable in height to accommodate different users. Alternatively, the crank 7 may be turned by electric power.
