PURPOSE: To disperse and/or attenuate reflected waves by louver boards and permit the releasing of air stream, trying to pass through a space between neighboring louver boards, in a condition that the noise of the air stream is reduced, by a method wherein the louver boards, constituted of rectangular sound absorbing sheets, are arrayed in a multitude of stages with slight up-and- down laps so as to be slanted stepwisely. ;CONSTITUTION: Friction sound and vibration sound, generated by the rotation of a fan, which is the main generating source of noise, as well as the reflecting sound of shock waves, generated by water drops, dropping from filler into a lower water tank, are dispersed and/or attenuated by louver boards, which are constituted of rectangular sound absorbing sheets 14 and are arrayed in a multitude of stages with slight up-and-down laps so as to be slanted stepwisely, while air stream, trying to pass through a space between neighboring louver boards 12 is discharged to the outside of a cooling tower under a condition that noise therein is reduced. As a result, the structure of the sound absorbent louver is simplified, the cost of the same is reduced and desired sound absorption effect can be exhibited.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
