PURPOSE: To enable aerial operation stably during a long time and repeatedly by utilizing a pumping liquid as lubricating water without injecting lubricating water from the outside of a pump as a lubricating structure for a shaft seal device. ;CONSTITUTION: A shaft seal device comprises a seat ring held in the outer periphery of a rotating main shaft 1, and a seal ring 8 disposed opposite to the seat ring and held on a pump casing 10. The seal ring 8 and the seat ring 7 are pressed to come into contact with each other to form the shaft seal device for preventing leakage of a fluid. Further, the main shaft 1 is provided with a rotary case 14 which surrounds both the seal ring 8 and the seat ring 7 and has an opening part from which a pumping liquid can enter on the upper part thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
